Fish pie is a traditional British dish, often referred to as fisherman’s pie. I found a recipe on TikTok but I also added a slight twist to the recipe.
Ingredients:
- 3 potatoes
- 1 cup of thick cream/ cooking cream
- 1 piece of white fish (any kind, diced into cubes)
- 1 leek [thin slices (Half-Moons or Rings)]
- 4 knobs of butter
- A handful of flour
- A handful of minced parsley (optional)
- A handful of minced dill (recommended)
- A handful of cheese (melted cheese or parmesan, whichever you prefer)
- Half lemon juice
- Half shallot (diced)
- Half carrot (diced)
- Garlic salt and Dasida (Korean beef stock)
Instructions:
How to prepare the mash:
- In a pot of boiling water, cook the potatoes up to 15 minutes.
- Drain the water when the potatoes are done and add 1 knob of butter, a dash of salt and 2 tablespoon of cooking cream. Mash them well.
How to cook the fillings of the pie:

- In a cooking pan over medium heat with some olive oil, add the leek and sauté until it turns slightly golden. Then, sprinkle in a handful of flour and continue to sauté until it emulsify.
- Add the carrot to the pan and sauté until it begins to soften, then add the fish and continue sautéing both.
- Pour the thick cream or cooking cream into the pot and season it with parsley and dill leaves. Feel free to add 3 knobs of butter to the mixture if you want some buttery taste. Let it simmer for 5 minutes, then season the filling with garlic salt and dasida powder. Before taking the pan off the stove, stir in some cheese.
- Pour the filling into a glass pie or casserole dish before spreading the mashed topping over it. If you want adding some pop on your mash, use a fork to swirl the mash in circular patterns.
- Place the filling in the oven using the grill setting, and grill it for 8 to 10 minutes.

When the potato starts to turn golden, our pie is ready to be served!
