Hiyayakko (Japanese silken tofu) Recipe

Simple no heat recipe, quick and healthy. Perfect dish to have as a side or perhaps on the nights you need a nibble but not a massive meal.

Ingredients:

  • Tofu
  • Ginger (grated)
  • Katsuobushi (Bonito flakes)
  • 1 tablespoon of shoyu (Japanese soy sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon of ponzu sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • Negi (Spring onion/ scallions)

How to prepare Hiyayakko:

  • Plate your soft tofu (straight from the fridge) on a plate and add your topping to the tofu (grated ginger, scallion or anything your heart desires)
  • Mix ponzu sauce, shoyu and sesame oil in a small bowl before.
  • Lightly drizzle the mixture of sauce you made to the tofu gentle.

Finish your dish by sprinkling some bonito flakes.
