Crunchy and tasty Stir Fry Long Beans flavoured with simple salt, egg and Maggi sarap or cukup rasa! I believe each family has their own preferred ways of cooking Long Beans and this recipe is what I grew up watching my grandma cook.
Ingredients:
- 1 bunch of long beans (diced but not too fine)
- 2 chopped garlic
- A dash of Maggi Sarap or Maggi Perasa
- A dash of white pepper (preferably Sarawak pepper)
- A dash of Ajinamoto (only if you feel like it’s necessary)
- 1 or 2 chopped chilli (red or green)
Instructions:
- Heat a wok or large frying pan. in medium heat. Add vegetable oil and swirl it around to coat the wok or frying pan.
- Add garlic to your pan to sauté for 20 seconds before adding chilies and sauté for another 20 seconds.
- Add your chopped long beans to the pan and stir fry for about 8 to 10 minutes. Add salt, white pepper and Maggi Sarap or Maggi Perasa while you stir fry the long beans.
- Somewhere about 7 minutes in, crack 1 or 2 eggs to your pan and continuously stir fry until your beans are well-done.
- Grandma’s tip: When your long beans start to look wrinkly, that’s when your long beans are ready to leave the wok/ frying pan.
- It’s a great vege dish to pair it with your other mains!
