There are days I feel like having steak but either I can’t afford it (as pay day is still 10 days away) or I feel like having vegetable instead of meat for the day. Cauliflower steak is a good one to manage one of those days. Also, this can be a vegan meal if
Ingredients:
- 1 Cauliflower
- 1 clove of garlic
- Some thyme
- 1 tablespoon of butter or vegan butter
- Instant gravy (you can choose vegan option)
- 2 brushed potatoes
- A dash of cooking cream
Prepare the mash potato:
- Chopped the 2 brushed potatoes and boil it for 15 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes then add salt, cooking cream and butter/vegan butter to the pot; mash it with a masher.
How to prepare the Cauliflower steak:
- Slice the cauliflower to a steak, drizzle some olive oil and salt both sides.
- Heat butter in your pan over high heat until your butter melts before searing the cauliflower steak. Add garlic and some thyme to the hot pan.
- Cook for between 7 to 10 minutes until your cauliflower is brown, then turn.
- You can prepare the gravy while waiting for the cauliflower to be done.
- Pour the instant gravy powder to 250ml boiling water and continuously whisk it. Stir briskly for 2 minutes until smooth, ensuirng all powder is mixed in and ready to be served.

Once done, plate your mash potato on a plate/bowl before plating your cauliflower steak on top of the mash. Drizzle the gravy according to your preferences before adding the seared thyme on top.
