Soy Milk Hot Pot 豆乳鍋

Soy Milk Hot Pot 豆乳鍋

Delicious Japanese Soy Milk Hot Pot recipe – filled with napa cabbage, mushrooms, beef or fish balls and thinly sliced pork or beef cooked in a creamy and savory soy milk broth. Simple preparation steps that doesn’t require strenuous effort to warm you up during winter season.

Ingredients:

  • You need to have a Don Nabe pot and 1 single burner butane stove to cook this if you don’t have a gas stove (we have an electric stove in our apartment)
  • 1 soy milk hot pot soup broth
  • Instant hot pot ingredients you can buy from any Japanese grocer
  • 1/2 cabbage
  • Beef or fish balls
  • Slices of beef or pork slices
  • A few shitake mushrooms
  • Tofu or tofu puffs

Instructions:

  •  Add the ingredients (except the pork and beef slices) to the pot by arranging them by sections until the pot is filled. Try avoid overcrowding the pot as some food may not get cooked properly whilst the broth may spill when it starts boiling.
  • Pour your nabe soup into your don nabe pot after arranging the ingredients.
  • Turn on the portable stove to a medium heat and let your nabe simmer with the lids on.
  • Boil your nabe for about 15 minutes and make sure to check from time to time, ensuring the soup doesn’t overflow.

Once it’s done, enjoy the cozy nabe with your loved ones! Add your slices of meat to the boiling soup when you want to have them so you don’t overcook them.
